Homeschool Friday

Well, we may not be posting on Fridays for a while.  I counted up "school" days only 198.  So we decided to take a break.  But then 3 days this week bug was still studying history.  On TBN they have a show  "The Bible and Science" Foundations of Freedom.  It is so interesting to see what we are not and have not been taught.  Wallbuilders.com is a great place to learn!  I do not like history, but I have to admit that I really do enjoy these lessons.  We have also found that "Drive Thru History" has "The Gospels" this is on pre-order right now, you can also watch it on TBN.

Organizational Thursday????

Is being organized over rated?  Maybe for some maybe not for others.  A day like today for me, yes it is so over rated!  Migraine, knees hurting from arthritis, (please come rain!)  I wished that I was organized every day, but that is not realistic.  Sometimes I think it would be so very nice to have someone to come in and get everything organized, but will it stay that way?  My kitchen looked so good yesterday, but today not so much.  I cooked, and cooked and cooked again so now it looks like a storm has went through it (it has it was "Diane")

I have downsized our "stuff" to help cut out clutter and dust (bad for allergies).  I had to get rid of clothes that are now too big (dairy-free living~allergy to milk kept me so bloated and water weight that I did not realize).

I hear the thunder finally starting to come so maybe I will get some relief in my knees!

We only have two years left of school so I guess we can start thinking about what books bug doesn't need for his Junior and Senior year..

So really being organized and getting organized is never over!  It is an on going process.

Enjoy those around you and don't get overwhelmed about being organized.  Just don't let your "stuff" own you.

Enjoy the day!

Diary free Tuesday

I made some really good waffles.

2 cups all purpose flour               1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar                               1 can coconut milk
1 Tbsp baking powder                 2 Tbsp vanilla
1 Tbsp almond extract

Mix all together.  Pour 1/3 cup mixture into each square in your waffle iron.

Cook them a little longer and they reminded me of the funnel cake that you get at the fair!

Monday Bible study

This week's verse is Exodus 14:14  "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

WOW!  I think that is the hardest part for anyone, to be still.

Word of the day "Protected".

I don't think He is saying to sit around and do nothing, instead He is the One in charge and He will see you through.

Homeschool Friday

Happy Friday! (okay it's officially Saturday, but still my Friday)  What a fast week.  Bug has been learning a lot about Germany this week.  Well, we have decided to take a break maybe until June; but we never really stop learning.  I checked his days of  "school" and as of last Friday he had 198.  So this week he started his Junior year, yikes!  I think he deserves a break even though  I know he will still do some form of "school".  That is one thing that I really love about homeschooling!

We have been going to Walmart to do "math", it is so nice to go at ten or eleven when it is pretty empty.  We have been checking out prices and comparing with Schnucks an Aldi's.  Checking out unit pricing to see what is the better buy.  Menu planning has been a little difficult trying to figure out what and when to eat.

Thanks for stopping by tonight!

Organizational Thursdary

Keep clutter down~when you get your mail, pitch junk, put bills in your bill bin, file what needs to be filed (bank statement, retirement statement), put magazines where you can read it in your free time (sure we have free time); after you read your magazine recycle it.  This is so simple in theory, but sometimes it is easier said than done.  Some days I do better than others it is a work in progress.

Make a list of what you want to accomplish each day mark off each item you get done.  It makes you feel good to see your list go down and all that you did get done.  If you have anything that you couldn't get to put it at the top of tomorrow's list.

Crafting Wednesday

I am missing my baby-bug so for this crafting Wednesday I thought I would show pictures of things that I made for her when she was first born (almost three years ago)!

Keeping it short and sweet, my crafting mojo isn't there and my crafting area is not available right now.

Dairy Free

Happy Tuesday!  It is so hard to keep straight what day it is with this new schedule!

I made these this past Thursday and could not wait to share these.  I got the recipe from one of my homeschool magazines.  My changes to it was instead of dairy milk I used Silk Almond Creamer.  This was suppose to make one, but that was too much even for bug and it is really rich!  I also added dairy free topping.

Recipe:

4 tbsp flour, 4 tbsp sugar, 3 tbsp cocoa, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt (2 tbsp chopped nuts if you want~we left them out.)
Add:
1 beaten egg, 3 tbsp Silk Almond Creamer (or your choice of any dairy-free or dairy milk), 1 tbsp oil, 1/4 tsp vanilla.

Mix together divide between 2 large mugs microwave for 2 minutes.

The dairy-free topping is:

1 can Coconut milk, leave in refrigerator over night, skim the solid off (you do not want any liquid in this, save it for another use)

Place mixer bowl and whisk in freezer for an hour before you make this.

Place solid coconut milk with 1/4 cup powder sugar mix until fluffy.

Mine only lasted a day in the fridge.....I ate it!

I also used Pampered Chef's 1 cup prep bowl and made three so each of us could have a nice size snack.

Hubby decided that he didn't want chocolate when he got home from work so last night I left it out added some almond flavoring and some sliced almonds in ours and frozen blueberries in bug's and they were really good like that too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Bible Study ~ Creator

This week we are starting at the beginning.  Genesis 1:1  "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  This is the memorization verse of the week.  Spend the rest of the week reading to verse 31.  The word of the week is CREATED.

What have you been involved in creating?  Family, Work, Hobby.  How do you feel about what came from your imagination into being created?  So how do you think God feels about his creation?

Think this week about what you have a hand in creating, family eating meal(s) together, Bible study, your homeschool day, your handmade cards, scrapbook pages, how your house looks.

I purchased "The Busy Mom's Bible" from www.christianbookstore.com several years ago and thought I would use the Thought Starters to do a weekly Bible Study for myself.  It is short so it will always fit in with my schedule no matter how harried it might get!

Please note:  If you do not believe my belief that is your right, just like I have the right to believe the way I do.  If any negative postings are made they WILL be removed.

Homeschool Friday

Happy Friday!  Today is all about homeschooling.  Right now it is just the beginning of our day.  Bug has already got Bible Study and more History done, now it is time to work on his driving training reading. ( Friday is our game day, catch up day.)  He didn't need to get caught up on anything, he worked really hard this week.    Notice that I said "more" history, he loves history, so any chance he gets he is watching or reading about history.  It isn't what public schoolers consider "history".  Trains is a big part of his history, lately he has been watching and researching German History also.  Our schedule looks like this; we do not do all subjects daily instead we do one subject per day.  This was bug's choice, he felt like he could do and learn more by not being limited by a time-frame.

Monday:  History
Tuesday:  Bookkeeping (real life math, he already finished Algebra a couple of years ago)
Wednesday:  Science
Thursday:  English/Literature/Grammar
Friday:  Driver's Training, Catch up day, game day.

He is almost done with this school year.  We do not take breaks, when we need time off we take it but that doesn't happen very often.  We have had family in the hospital for a length of time, we were there with the and took our school with us.

I just got my new 2016-2017 WELL PLANNED DAY planner.  I have used it since we started homeschooling,  Bug is using the High School Planner (it last all four years).  I also have the "Blog Planner" and "On the Go Planner".

Joining HEDUA has benefits so helpful to homeschoolers.  I also highly recommend joining Home School Legal Defense , this has been our best investment by far.

My Plan and Thursday Organization!

Wow, I thought the daylight time savings was crazy.  Changing your work schedule is really crazy!  It is good though.  Bug and I like the night shift to do homeschool and hubby seems to be doing good.  We usually don't take a break for summer, I think this year we may take a month off.  I need to get my "Craft Studio" upstairs so I can start creating again.  I also want to get into a steady blogging schedule and be more productive.  It has been so quiet and also lonely without baby bug around, but the great-grand parents are enjoying her now.

I am looking for ideas on what to blog about.

1.  Crafting - Wednesday

2.  Homeschooling - Friday

3.  Dairy-free living - Tuesday

4.  Weekly Bible study  - Monday

5.  Organization - Thursday

This is my list so far and this may just be my list to get me started.

Make a plan, make a list, make a target date, then get started.

So today is Thursday (I think) so today is organization.

Do you NEED it?  If "NO" then donate or sell it.  You might need it?  Keep it in sight for 6 weeks, if you haven't used it (except for seasonal items) donate or sell it.

I have cleaned out my "stuff" over the past few years to help with dust in the house to help out my allergies.  I agree with the less is best motto!

Okay CRAFTERS this is for you, I mean me.  Yes the paper is very pretty!  Why keep it in storage?  Make a card, scrapbook, 3-D item or donate or sell it.  I have a very hard time with this.  Have you bought a stamp, stamp set, accessory and haven't used it?  Donate or sell.

Hope you will find this all useful.

Thanks for stopping by!

Life is changing

Well hubby is working the afternoon/night shift and I am not babysitting baby-bug so today has been so weird.  Here in a couple of months I hope to get back into making cards and start scrapbooking all the years that I am behind.  Hopefully my sinuses/allergies, asthma, and arthritis in my knees start to feel better also so I have enough energy to get crafty.  I made some "Thank You" cards for buggy to send out to all who came to his 16th birthday celebration.

My paper is from CTMH, the ink, embossing, stamp and dots are from Stampin' Up!  I just used A2 cards for the base.

It took a while to get my watermark on my photo's it has been too long and I forgot what I did.

Getting Ready for 16th Birthday!

Happy Sunday!  Well I got up this morning feeling good and got ready for church, then sinus mayhem.  I hate getting sick, I know no one likes it.  Unfortunately for me it is something that happens quiet a lot for me.

I can not believe that my baby is turning 16 Saturday.  Time has went by so fast.  I only have two years left for homeschooling with him.  It has been the best job I have ever had.  This past year he has made it super simple.  I have his lesson planned out for the entire month and he goes off and does what he can and comes to me for help (which hasn't been very often).  He did Algebra his Freshman year, and he did really good with that, but I thought he needed a more real life so he is now doing recording keeping.

Okay now for the reason I really started this post.....

I really liked how these turned out.  I used a past Paper Pumpkin' Kit "Cute Conversations" (you must have a Paper Pumpkin Subscription sign up here.  Don't forget the 3 months for $55 will be ending at the end of this month.)

and "Happy Birthday, Everyone"  (this stamp set is for Hostesses, so you can even host an online gathering!)

I used twine from my stash,  now looking at the package I feel silly.  Why didn't I just use the white and mint baker's twine and clothes pins?  Oh wait that would have been too smart! LOL.

Let me know if you want to set up an online gathering and I will get that started for you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thank You Card

A sweet couple from church gave us their microwave after they remodeled their kitchen, so I made them a card to show my appreciation.

I used Stampin Up! Sleigh Ride Edgelits   (which is no longer available :( but there is a bunch of framelits still available) and glued the cut out part to the inside of the card.  The "Thank You" is from Paper Pumpkin' February 2016.  This was just a simple A2 card.  I also used the Big Shot Die Brush.

So my allergies and sinuses have gotten better, to be replaced by my arthritis in both knees hurting so badly that I am having a hard time walking and since my Creative Studio is downstairs I can not do any crafting right now.  It is time to get back to the Chiropractor for acupuncture.  I can not wait until the weather gets better here!

Don't forget Paper Pumpkin'  is still 3-Month Prepaid Subscription (137859) $59.85 $55
Save on a 3-month prepaid subscription and instantly qualify for a FREE Sale-A-Bration item!  Don't forget you must sign into Paper Pumpkin'  and create your account then go to my on-line store  and ordering it using the above information (hurry this special offer expires 03/31/2016).

Paper Pumpkin

I am so excited!!!!  I got to play a little bit with my first Paper Pumpkin Kit!  I received my start up kit a few weeks ago with Stampin' Up!  and guess what was included.....a previous month Paper Pumpkin Kit!  I love that orange box!
Unfortunately I have had a horrible sinus infection for the past two weeks, so I haven't had the energy to do anything. Luckily Bug and Baby Bug was pretty good. (maybe I should ask Bug since he helped out so much with Baby Bug)  Homeschooling High School I thought was going to be the hardest, but it hasn't been.  I now have Bug's lesson plan in my calendar until May, he has already had his 180 days in but we school year round.  I told him I wasn't going to let him graduate until after he turned 18 although he has enough credit to do so right now:(  I don't like the fact that he is growing up!  Next month he will be 16 yikes!
Okay back from my rabbit trail!  Look at what came in my kit!
I just love this box!  Join Paper Pumpkin for $55.00 for three months and you can get the stamp I used for FREE!

this is everything that came in the box

I used a different stamp set to make a birthday card for my son-in-law.  It is a little hard to see here but wait.

I used this stamp set for the plane.  It is "Sky is the Limit", I think I will use this stamp set a lot!  You can get this stamp set FREE, just order $50 from my website and you can add this to your order.

Everything is already cut for you.  I used the ink that came in the kit for the plane and then I used
Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush  (another one of my favorite items) to make the propeller look like it is moving.

Yesterday I received my first official Paper Pumpkin Kit, I haven't opened it yet, Saturday I am going to open it and make my first video!  So exciting to start this next phase in my crafting world.  So stay tuned!  Follow my blog so you wont miss all the exciting things I have in store!

Getting Back

I have been MIA, I have had a horrible sinus infection for the past week.  I got my order from Stampin' Up but didn't even open the box until last night.  I will be making a birthday card for my son-in-law's birthday Friday, a Valentine's Day card for my wonderful hubby and buggie and baby bug.  Baby Bug asked me last week, while I felt to awful, if she could make her mommy a Valentine's Day Card.  How sweet for a two year old.  I had made her a 3X3 card two weeks ago with a heart on it and stamped "Happy Valentine's Day" inside and she has carried that around the house every day like it was something valuable.

Boring Week?

This has been a boring week.  Well, I thought so, school went so smoothly, I had set up the full month of lesson plans for Buggie and even with having water flooding my laundry room downstairs from the ice maker in the refrigerator upstairs freezing up (wait I thought it was boring but now that I look back at it is has been far from boring!) he has sailed through without any hesitation. High School is so much easier than the earlier grades.  Baby Bug has been so sweet and all cuddly, even with her terrible two's attitude from time to time, still it has been an easier week than usual.  I have had a lot of allergy attacks, problems with my asthma and knees, and sinus (but that is my normal).

Today we made home made yeast rolls and cinnamon rolls, they were so good. I am pretty pleased with this  being my first attempt.  (Having an allergy to milk~dairy makes eating normal pretty rough.)  Monday we made homemade Hawaiian pizza.  Buggie gets to learn how to make home made meals, surprisingly it is not that hard to cook from scratch and it is a lot of fun! (I think)

Monday or Tuesday I will be getting my next order from Stampin' Up.  I can not wait, I ordered some stuff to make Valentine's with.  (and I am not a Valentine kinda gal)  Some of the cards and decorations that I have seen I can not wait to copy.

I am really liking my Big Shot, but I still love ALL of my Cricuts,  I like having something mobile so if I can not make it down the stairs I can have Buggie bring my Big Shot upstairs and I can do crafting without waking up Baby Bug.

A Sympathy card

I feel like such a bad friend.  My best friend, since 4th grade, father passed away a couple of weeks ago and I just found out Sunday:(  So I went to my stash and found a sweet stamp set from My Pink Stamper to use and some old paper from CTMH.  But I did use Stampin' Up ink (have I mentioned that I really love their ink)  okay silly me I had a bit of a struggle to get that stinkin' ink pad opened.  I was making it waaaayyy too hard!

Sunday we went to Hilltop Inn in Spencer Indiana to celebrated birthdays with my hubby's family.  It was nice since we got to take my oldest baby, her hubby, baby bug; along with hubby and bug.  It was nice to get out and be with them.  Although my knees were killing me, icy hot and heating pad and ice when I got home so I could walk Monday!  In that area my chest doesn't hurt from my asthma.  (Off my rabbit trail)  I made this above heart puppet for baby bug because for some reason she just loved the monkey that I made for her last summer and then the pumpkin I made for her in October.  I made it from foam and cut two hearts with my explore, glued it together.  I used my Crop-A-Dile II and some brads that I had got from JoAnn's a few years ago.  I love the face, it is Peachy Keen face stamp, they are so adorable!
Thanks for looking!

Thanks for looking!

Birthday Cards

Here are two Birthday Cards that I made for my Father-in-law and Sister-in-law.

This one it an A2 card, I used CTMH Hats Off Stamp and Artiste for the card and sentiment.

This one is 6X6 with 5X5 insert of the reverse side of the paper stamped with CTMH December Stamp of the month.

Yes I am starting with Stampin' Up.  I need to order some supplies but first I need to save up a little bit of money.  With my kit I did order some inks and I must say that I really do like Stampin' Up ink pads a lot  more! :)   So that is a plus!  I have a couple of items that I am going to play with next week that I got with me kit.

This is only our second snow for the year!  We got around 5 inches.  Luckily my daughter had already decided to take off Thursday and Friday, so baby bug didn't have to get out to go to Nana's house in this.  I don't like the cold because it makes my arthritis in my knees hurt more and the smoke from peoples fireplaces and woodburner makes it hard for my breathing:(  It is time to get back to my wonderful chiropractor for acupuncture.

Enjoy the day!
