Homeschool Friday

Well, we may not be posting on Fridays for a while.  I counted up "school" days only 198.  So we decided to take a break.  But then 3 days this week bug was still studying history.  On TBN they have a show  "The Bible and Science" Foundations of Freedom.  It is so interesting to see what we are not and have not been taught.  Wallbuilders.com is a great place to learn!  I do not like history, but I have to admit that I really do enjoy these lessons.  We have also found that "Drive Thru History" has "The Gospels" this is on pre-order right now, you can also watch it on TBN.

Thanks for stopping by!

Organizational Thursday????

Is being organized over rated?  Maybe for some maybe not for others.  A day like today for me, yes it is so over rated!  Migraine, knees hurting from arthritis, (please come rain!)  I wished that I was organized every day, but that is not realistic.  Sometimes I think it would be so very nice to have someone to come in and get everything organized, but will it stay that way?  My kitchen looked so good yesterday, but today not so much.  I cooked, and cooked and cooked again so now it looks like a storm has went through it (it has it was "Diane")

I have downsized our "stuff" to help cut out clutter and dust (bad for allergies).  I had to get rid of clothes that are now too big (dairy-free living~allergy to milk kept me so bloated and water weight that I did not realize).

I hear the thunder finally starting to come so maybe I will get some relief in my knees!

We only have two years left of school so I guess we can start thinking about what books bug doesn't need for his Junior and Senior year..

So really being organized and getting organized is never over!  It is an on going process.

Enjoy those around you and don't get overwhelmed about being organized.  Just don't let your "stuff" own you.

Enjoy the day!

Diary free Tuesday

I made some really good waffles.

2 cups all purpose flour               1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar                               1 can coconut milk
1 Tbsp baking powder                 2 Tbsp vanilla
1 Tbsp almond extract

Mix all together.  Pour 1/3 cup mixture into each square in your waffle iron.

Cook them a little longer and they reminded me of the funnel cake that you get at the fair!

Monday Bible study

This week's verse is Exodus 14:14  "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

WOW!  I think that is the hardest part for anyone, to be still.

Word of the day "Protected".

I don't think He is saying to sit around and do nothing, instead He is the One in charge and He will see you through.

Homeschool Friday

Happy Friday! (okay it's officially Saturday, but still my Friday)  What a fast week.  Bug has been learning a lot about Germany this week.  Well, we have decided to take a break maybe until June; but we never really stop learning.  I checked his days of  "school" and as of last Friday he had 198.  So this week he started his Junior year, yikes!  I think he deserves a break even though  I know he will still do some form of "school".  That is one thing that I really love about homeschooling!

We have been going to Walmart to do "math", it is so nice to go at ten or eleven when it is pretty empty.  We have been checking out prices and comparing with Schnucks an Aldi's.  Checking out unit pricing to see what is the better buy.  Menu planning has been a little difficult trying to figure out what and when to eat.

Thanks for stopping by tonight!

Organizational Thursdary

Keep clutter down~when you get your mail, pitch junk, put bills in your bill bin, file what needs to be filed (bank statement, retirement statement), put magazines where you can read it in your free time (sure we have free time); after you read your magazine recycle it.  This is so simple in theory, but sometimes it is easier said than done.  Some days I do better than others it is a work in progress.

Make a list of what you want to accomplish each day mark off each item you get done.  It makes you feel good to see your list go down and all that you did get done.  If you have anything that you couldn't get to put it at the top of tomorrow's list.

Crafting Wednesday

I am missing my baby-bug so for this crafting Wednesday I thought I would show pictures of things that I made for her when she was first born (almost three years ago)!

Keeping it short and sweet, my crafting mojo isn't there and my crafting area is not available right now.

Dairy Free

Happy Tuesday!  It is so hard to keep straight what day it is with this new schedule!

I made these this past Thursday and could not wait to share these.  I got the recipe from one of my homeschool magazines.  My changes to it was instead of dairy milk I used Silk Almond Creamer.  This was suppose to make one, but that was too much even for bug and it is really rich!  I also added dairy free topping.

Recipe:

4 tbsp flour, 4 tbsp sugar, 3 tbsp cocoa, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt (2 tbsp chopped nuts if you want~we left them out.)
Add:
1 beaten egg, 3 tbsp Silk Almond Creamer (or your choice of any dairy-free or dairy milk), 1 tbsp oil, 1/4 tsp vanilla.

Mix together divide between 2 large mugs microwave for 2 minutes.

The dairy-free topping is:

1 can Coconut milk, leave in refrigerator over night, skim the solid off (you do not want any liquid in this, save it for another use)

Place mixer bowl and whisk in freezer for an hour before you make this.

Place solid coconut milk with 1/4 cup powder sugar mix until fluffy.

Mine only lasted a day in the fridge.....I ate it!

I also used Pampered Chef's 1 cup prep bowl and made three so each of us could have a nice size snack.

Hubby decided that he didn't want chocolate when he got home from work so last night I left it out added some almond flavoring and some sliced almonds in ours and frozen blueberries in bug's and they were really good like that too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Bible Study ~ Creator

This week we are starting at the beginning.  Genesis 1:1  "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  This is the memorization verse of the week.  Spend the rest of the week reading to verse 31.  The word of the week is CREATED.

What have you been involved in creating?  Family, Work, Hobby.  How do you feel about what came from your imagination into being created?  So how do you think God feels about his creation?

Think this week about what you have a hand in creating, family eating meal(s) together, Bible study, your homeschool day, your handmade cards, scrapbook pages, how your house looks.

I purchased "The Busy Mom's Bible" from www.christianbookstore.com several years ago and thought I would use the Thought Starters to do a weekly Bible Study for myself.  It is short so it will always fit in with my schedule no matter how harried it might get!

Please note:  If you do not believe my belief that is your right, just like I have the right to believe the way I do.  If any negative postings are made they WILL be removed.

Homeschool Friday

Happy Friday!  Today is all about homeschooling.  Right now it is just the beginning of our day.  Bug has already got Bible Study and more History done, now it is time to work on his driving training reading. ( Friday is our game day, catch up day.)  He didn't need to get caught up on anything, he worked really hard this week.    Notice that I said "more" history, he loves history, so any chance he gets he is watching or reading about history.  It isn't what public schoolers consider "history".  Trains is a big part of his history, lately he has been watching and researching German History also.  Our schedule looks like this; we do not do all subjects daily instead we do one subject per day.  This was bug's choice, he felt like he could do and learn more by not being limited by a time-frame.

Monday:  History
Tuesday:  Bookkeeping (real life math, he already finished Algebra a couple of years ago)
Wednesday:  Science
Thursday:  English/Literature/Grammar
Friday:  Driver's Training, Catch up day, game day.

He is almost done with this school year.  We do not take breaks, when we need time off we take it but that doesn't happen very often.  We have had family in the hospital for a length of time, we were there with the and took our school with us.

I just got my new 2016-2017 WELL PLANNED DAY planner.  I have used it since we started homeschooling,  Bug is using the High School Planner (it last all four years).  I also have the "Blog Planner" and "On the Go Planner".

Joining HEDUA has benefits so helpful to homeschoolers.  I also highly recommend joining Home School Legal Defense , this has been our best investment by far.

My Plan and Thursday Organization!

Wow, I thought the daylight time savings was crazy.  Changing your work schedule is really crazy!  It is good though.  Bug and I like the night shift to do homeschool and hubby seems to be doing good.  We usually don't take a break for summer, I think this year we may take a month off.  I need to get my "Craft Studio" upstairs so I can start creating again.  I also want to get into a steady blogging schedule and be more productive.  It has been so quiet and also lonely without baby bug around, but the great-grand parents are enjoying her now.

I am looking for ideas on what to blog about.

1.  Crafting - Wednesday

2.  Homeschooling - Friday

3.  Dairy-free living - Tuesday

4.  Weekly Bible study  - Monday

5.  Organization - Thursday

This is my list so far and this may just be my list to get me started.

Make a plan, make a list, make a target date, then get started.

So today is Thursday (I think) so today is organization.

Do you NEED it?  If "NO" then donate or sell it.  You might need it?  Keep it in sight for 6 weeks, if you haven't used it (except for seasonal items) donate or sell it.

I have cleaned out my "stuff" over the past few years to help with dust in the house to help out my allergies.  I agree with the less is best motto!

Okay CRAFTERS this is for you, I mean me.  Yes the paper is very pretty!  Why keep it in storage?  Make a card, scrapbook, 3-D item or donate or sell it.  I have a very hard time with this.  Have you bought a stamp, stamp set, accessory and haven't used it?  Donate or sell.

Hope you will find this all useful.

Thanks for stopping by!

Life is changing

Well hubby is working the afternoon/night shift and I am not babysitting baby-bug so today has been so weird.  Here in a couple of months I hope to get back into making cards and start scrapbooking all the years that I am behind.  Hopefully my sinuses/allergies, asthma, and arthritis in my knees start to feel better also so I have enough energy to get crafty.  I made some "Thank You" cards for buggy to send out to all who came to his 16th birthday celebration.

My paper is from CTMH, the ink, embossing, stamp and dots are from Stampin' Up!  I just used A2 cards for the base.

It took a while to get my watermark on my photo's it has been too long and I forgot what I did.
